If you want a slower, more varied trip: Kerala
Kerala isn’t just a beach — it’s backwaters, hill country and coastline, which means the trip has more shape to it than lying on sand for a week. A houseboat night through the Alleppey backwaters, a couple of days in the Munnar tea hills, and a beach stretch to finish gives you a genuinely varied pace. It’s also become one of the most popular honeymoon routes for exactly this reason — quiet, scenic, and easy to slow right down.
Kerala suits you if:
- You want variety — water, hills and coast in one trip, not just one type of scenery.
- It’s a honeymoon or an anniversary trip where atmosphere matters as much as activity.
- You’re happy with 8-10 days to do it justice, rather than a shorter standalone break.
If you want a straightforward, lively (or quiet) beach break: Goa
Goa is more purely a beach holiday, and it does that specific thing extremely well. North Goa has energy — beach shacks, nightlife, a younger crowd. South Goa is quieter and more resort-focused, better suited to families or anyone who wants to properly switch off. Either way, it’s simpler logistically than Kerala’s multi-stop route, which makes it a good fit for a shorter trip.
Goa suits you if:
- You want a straightforward beach holiday without multiple stops to plan around.
- You have a shorter window — 5-7 nights is a very natural length for Goa.
- You want to choose your vibe specifically — lively North or quiet South.
